Need a Beauty Solution?

General Q&AQ. I am in need of some expert advice. I have two tattoos that need to be covered for my gown picture session and for my wedding, is there anything you can do, or anything that I can buy? Please help I love my dress, and my tattoos, just not together on my wedding day!

A. Have you tried the Makeup For Ever concealer in the pot? The coverage is fantastic and I use it whenever I need to cover a model or actors tattoos. Also, you want to stipple it on with a brush and follow with a loose powder to set it. If you can't find it, you can also try my Complexion Perfection Duo and use the same technique in applying it over the tatoo. Good luck to you!

Q. My self tanner always streaks around my ankles. What can I do?

A. Use liquid cuticle remover with a cotton pad to remove it.

Q. I am having a night time wedding. I want to look made up but not overdone. Any suggestions? Angela

A. The trick to pulling off a night time wedding and not looking overdone is to pick a feature you really want to accentuate and concentrate on that. Whether it be your eyes, lips or cheeks. One of the biggest mistakes brides make is feeling they need a lot more makeup for a dramatic look. This is not true. You can keep your makeup natural but smoke up the eyes or wear a deeper shade of lip color. Too much of everything will ruin the look and can make you look overdone.

Q. I am still in school but I am mad to become a celebrity make-up artist just like you. I want to work in America if I can. What I am wondering is HOW DO I GET THERE?????? No can seem to tell me how to get this far and they tell me that I shouldn't be worrying about what I want to do yet...Please Please help and give me some contacts about how to get as far as you. Thank you. ~Rachel in Ireland

A. Hi Rachel-

You sound so passionate about following your dreams! And you must! But you need to start somewhere and being that you are in Ireland your best bet is to start looking into photographers you can work with, makeup artists you can assist, and modeling agencies you can work with. Start building your portfolio and showing it to photographers and agents. Then eventually look into getting your own agent which will allow you to have numerous international opportunities. Good luck!!

Q. I am a makeup artist as well, I do makeup for brides, but I am interested in getting involved with make for advertising, news casters, and movie sets you know the celebrity side of things more. Can you tell me how to go about it? Is there any web pages or people to call?

A. Buy the Makeup Hair and Styling Guide by Crystal Wright or look up Set The Pace on the internet. She gives seminars and has a book on how to break into the biz. Also, start calling photographers and asking if you can work with them. They might be able to use you and in return you can build a portfolio which is absolutely necessary in order to work with celebs. Hope that helps and good luck!!!
